![]() Being able to use stops and effort as a motivational factor to take pride in. He'll also have moments defensively where he uses his overwhelming athletic presence to hound offensive players, even appearing to take great joy and pride in his performance on that end of the floor. While he's not consistent in those areas yet, additional motivation on that end of the floor could see him make substantial year-to-year improvements as a defender. However, it does appear the acquisition of Patrick Beverley has injected a bit more fight in the second-year player, when he tries to maneuver screens and close-outs. There aren't a lot of 20-year-old polished players who become major defensive contributors in their first few seasons, so expecting this of Edwards is a bit optimistic. Some of it is fatigue for handling too much of the offensive load, and sometimes it's just inexperience, which is of course perfectly normal. Defense and all-around gameĪs with the vast majority of MVPs winners in the past, being able to flick a switch and become a lock-down defender is usually a skill most of them have.Įdwards runs hot and cold defensively. Will Edwards ever become a 40% from range on high volume? It's not impossible, but it shouldn't be an outright requirement, as long as his shots are taken at the appropriate time and within the confines of the offense. Moving forward, it's all about fine-tuning, identifying the right shots, and feeling the moment. This is about as good a foundation as the Wolves could ask for. Edwards is attempting 8.8 nightly triples, hitting a healthy 37.6% of them. This isn't to suggest he'll become the new Zion Williamson, but by being more selective and working on how he approaches every shot near the basket, it's fair to note that this is an area he could become utterly dominant in.įinally, there's shooting, and there isn't much to say about it. His 66% shooting efficiency from within three feet is by no means poor - it's actually a fairly strong number for a guard - but when taking into account just how otherworldly he is physically, there's a sense that he can grow in this area. This too can be said of his conversion rate at the rim, which is likely to improve quite drastically as he ages and gains more experience. He's laid out a path of breadcrumbs to follow for later, but nevertheless the results haven't exactly shown themselves yet. It should be noted that Edwards does on occasion slow down to throw off defenses. However, after years with the same pattern, taking a principal stand is simply less recommended than adapting to the realities of how the game is being called. This is where some might note that players shouldn't have to go to such lengths to get calls they deserve anyway, and that's of course a fair point. While the two differ greatly in style and overall athletic prowess, slowing down is a sure-fire way to give game officials a chance to observe the play at a more regular speed. This method has proven extremely effective when used hy Luka Doncic. This makes it even more difficult for referees to observe fouls, as the combination of size, speed and raw athleticism presents a challenge for them to fully gauge.Īs such, Edwards could stand to benefit from improved speed control, by slowing down significantly when he gets within 5-7 feet of the basket. At 6'4 and 225 pounds, Edwards is tremendously muscular, which makes defenders bounce off of him, instead of vice versa. LaVine has spent a not insignificant portion of his time this year barking at referees after years of taking blows to his head, torso and arms, without getting calls.Įdwards too is in a similar boat, although he has an additional component working against him. ![]() ![]() Using LaVine as an example once again, being overly athletic can at times make Point A to Point B drives look too easy, and the sheer force of their vertical jumps can throw referees off, and make them miss a hit on the arm or head.

Only problem I had with the device at all was I tried the 1.7 core custom firmwares for it and it would freeze and crash a lot, e-mailed willgoo support and they emailed me a link to original firmware 2.1 core which fixed the freezing and haven't had a problem since (going on a week now) so far snes emulation is fullspeed even on superFX games and runs everything I've thrown at it fine. We love the Headless mode and the fact the top speed can be changed from slow to dragonfly quick with a simple tap of a button on the controller. It’s well built, safe for even four year olds to fly and it behaves amazingly well for such a small drone. The Potensic A20W impressed us right from the start. However, the batteries do take about 30 minutes to charge. You should get about six minutes of flight out of each battery and they’re both rechargeable via a USB pocket charger or desktop computer. ![]() If using outdoors and a breeze causes the drone to drift away even when trying to flying it back to yourself, immediately put it into max mode and it’ll fight against the wind more effectively.Īs explained above, the Headless mode is well worth using when flying for the first time because, chances are your child will change the orientation of the craft mid flight and become confused when the trajectory of the drone doesn’t match the input on the sticks. Use this mode only when outdoors, unless you have a very large living room with no delicate ornaments. The fastest mode is really, really quick and it responds to stick gestures with lightning speed. The medium speed mode is also good for indoor use though the response is much more sensitive to stick input and it’s faster, too. The drone will move slowly in the direction you want it to go. Start in slow mode at first – especially indoors – to get a handle on the controls. This is because it isn’t equipped with GPS to keep it in one spot when there’s a wind blowing. This drone is ostensibly designed for indoor use though it’s perfectly capable outdoors too, as long as there is no more than a gentle breeze. Once in the air, it holds its altitude position indoors very well and can be calibrated mid-flight if it tends to veer to the left, right, forward or back. To use, simply pull the two joysticks back and inwards and the little props spin up ready for flight. The A20W is a breeze to fly – its flight characteristics and overall stability are really impressive for such a titchy thing. Potensic A20W Mini Drone review: flight performance Just be sure to download the Potensic app (iOS and Android) first to experience the joys of live-feed video transmission. But on the plus side it means your kid can fly FPV using the screen on a phone to see where he or she is going. It’s a shame the camera is fixed into a forward-facing position and can’t be at least manually tilted downwards like some models. For best results, let go of both joysticks so the drone hovers in one spot and then start the video recording. Just be warned that the camera doesn’t have a gimbal so video footage will pitch and roll as the drone moves around. Now it has to be said that the footage the camera produces is definitely on the low end of the cinematic scale – fuzzy and ill defined like an over-copied You Tube video – but for kids it’ll will do just fine. Topping off this dandy package is a front-mounted WiFi HD camera capable of capturing 480p video and stills. Hence, no matter which way the drone’s front end is pointing, when the child moves the right stick forward, back, left or right, the drone will move in those specific directions and not confusingly veer off on some weird trajectory. As a beginner, your child will quickly come to love the headless mode because they won’t need to think about the drone’s orientation in the air. The controller itself is extremely well equipped and features a cradle for a smart phone, a button for automatic take-off and landing, three flight speeds and a headless mode. Potensic A20W Mini Drone review: hand controllerįor the very low price, this drone is fantastic value not least because it comes with a small but very well designed hand controller and two USB rechargeable batteries. ![]() Other cool features include a way-point Flight Route function – simply draw a route on the map on the phone and the drone will follow its path – and a Gravity Induction mode that lets the child steer the drone by tilting the phone. It means the child can concentrate on manoeuvring the drone instead of wrestling with the power stick and trying to steer at the same time. We can’t stress how important this asset is when considering a toy drone. Thankfully, the Potensic A20W is equipped with a barometer to keep the drone on an even altitude plain. The flight may go well for the first few seconds after take off, but from thereon in your child will be battling with the sticks until the drone inevitably smashes into the ceiling before crashing to the floor. Hence, trying to maintain a steady altitude with most toy drones is almost impossible. This is because they don’t have any flight-stabilising barometric pressure sensors on board. The trouble with most cheap indoor drones is that they’re almost impossible to keep in the air. "Speed tape, or aluminium tape, is what we use for interim repairs on our aircraft," Mr Crenfeldt states in a video published by the New Zealand Herald. Images and videos depicting tape being used on planes have circulated on social media alongside suggestions of safety risks before.īut as Air New Zealand head of engineering Grant Crenfeldt explained in 2016, the tape used in aircraft repairs is actually "FAA-approved speed tape". Importantly, however, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has said it was aware of the paint peeling but would not be taking any action against the manufacturer as there was "no indication that the paint and protection degradation affects the structure of the aircraft or introduces other risks". Similar paint issues have also plagued aircraft manufacturer Airbus, whose A350 jets have been the subject of legal action by Qatar Airways. ![]() "he peeling does not affect the structural integrity of the wing, and does not affect the safety of flight," the spokesperson said.Īnd while the FAA document does warn of a potential paint-related safety risk to airline personnel when using "vacuum-type fall arrest protection systems" on aircraft wings, it did not flag any risk to passenger safety. Recent news reports have suggested that peeling paint on the wings of Boeing 787-9 aircraft may be a widespread issue, with a spokeswoman for Air New Zealand telling online publication Stuff that it was a global problem.Ī spokesperson for Boeing, meanwhile, told aviation industry publication Simple Flying that the peeling paint was "a cosmetic issue only". They pointed CheckMate to a video of the wing of an Etihad-operated 787-9 to illustrate the similarities with the wing pictured in the Twitter post.Īs for why the wing was taped, the researchers alerted CheckMate to a 2020 document issued by the US Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).Īccording to the document, Boeing had notified the FAA that certain model 787 jets were "prone to paint adhesion failures due to Ultra Violet (UV) ray damage". ( Supplied)īut the tape pictured - known as speed tape - is used regularly in the aviation industry and, in this case, was likely applied to cover peeling paint.Īccording to researchers from the Information Futures Lab (formerly known as First Draft News), the plane pictured was most probably a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
